The 'event' that is coming is already here -- default on our promises to pay our debts without resorting to 'printing' is here right now. We are now in the early stages of default -- default by inflation. Inflation is now at hand, and it is our destiny -- it is non-negotiable -- it is our own 'law of gravity'. In a world with better people -- better Americans -- we could nip it now -- but we will not. That would require us to think. It would require us to pay our bills. It would require us to act responsibly instead of pointing at others and telling THEM to behave responsibly.

Interest rates will climb higher. Inflation will climb higher. The current account deficit will climb higher. And our economy will shrink and whither along with our 'standard of living'. This is the price we will pay for not being able to act like adults (you, me, all of us).
