The limiting factor for nuclear power is not technology. It's costs and environmental concerns.

Bingo!

The big problem that nukes had all along (not including all of the nuclear fuel issues) is waste heat. You have to use a lot of water to get rid of about 60% of the energy a nuke produces and throw it away. Fifty years ago we didn't care where it went because we didn't fully understand what it did to the environment.

Now we do understand those impacts.

When you factor in all of the real costs it's just too expensive in the long run unfortunately.
