I'm willing to bet that if Obama got a Democratic Congress to:

1) cut spending (TIME suggested cutting a trillion in defense)
2) let the Bush tax cuts expire
3) folded Medicare & Medicaid into comprehensive health care plan with a public option...

The markets and dollar would soar.

Fat chance, though.
