Paul; I wonder if they can follow along V's path, without him. An engineering manager needs to fully understand and direct the resources towards a highly complex composite task. In effect he has the entire chip in his minds eye, and can they replace him at all?

Companies are built on unique people, like Vin, and I wonder if he has chafed under Jerry, and when he felt the design was fully mature, exited to leave the fine tuning to others. Possibly with another startup in mind. Since he came as Nexgen assets there might not be any restrictive employment clause that Jerry likes on new hires. However he would not like to speak in those terms, and a time interval will pass and then be announced.

I suspect that fine tuning the lines from .35 to .25 can be done by an experienced staff. In effect that is AMD needs to do now is get .25 going and get the % running at full speed up.

Where will they go for their counterpart to the slot 1 designer?

Bill
