But Nader criticized Gates for lashing out at him. "Microsoft and Bill Gates this week have been playing the role of the victim," Nader said.
He then continued mockingly: "How terrible, after hundreds of conferences all over the world ... as they manipulated and controlled the agenda and output of the conference, that there be just one conference, here in Washington, D.C., where, heaven forbid, a number of critics could make their presentations."
As with another company, those who live by the PR sword, die by the PR sword. I don't know, hearts and minds wise, the buzz this week seemed to go against Bill & Co., but I don't pretend to be impartial. Somebody's got to explain that last Fred Moody thing to me, though.
But Nader said Microsoft -- whose software runs 90 percent of desktop computers -- was just a symptom of America's major economic problems: weak antitrust laws and trouble enforcing them.
Ok, I hereby name Nader an honorary member of the Sacred Order of the Ilk.
