I have held two macro economic equations in my head for a very long time which I see playing out now, but little recognition by the world. And the world needs to come to terms with these equations if the human species is to survive happy and healthy.

1) Everyone cannot be a millionair. Not enough resources.

2) The US has been 4% of the worlds population consuming 25% of the worlds goods and services. That disparity is evaporating as the rest of the world catches up to us.

It also means as Chindia e.g. gains a larger share of the world GDP we necessarily will need to lose some.

How we handle these two equations will determine how happy and healthy a world our children will inherit.

It also means we must be much more realistic and sophisticated regarding social, political and economic theory; and see the human species as one people living on the planet earth and working together.
