heh, a person could make a nice hobby of studying that
and DRM etc.

Well I watched a season of the PBS Masterpiece
"Downton Abbey" in 1080i, so that was nice--Comcast
doesn't seem to move the low free channels. Several
years ago I rented their HD tuner for a few months,
and was underwhelmed. But I'm sure for a price they
have very nice solutions now.

But you're right to point out the free OTA, the last
time I checked with an old VHF/UHF antenna, it pulled in a
handful of digital ota channels--and that was just
throwing it in the attic. I might have even been
able to get hidef with it, though that particular
tuner and the Pentium D wouldn't have decoded them.

Anyway, it is clear that the new low wattage Intel
CPUs and 1155 motherboards make the whole thing worth
another look, and thanks again for all your thoughts!
