Yes, best not to circumlocute loquaciously and endlessly on the what ifs and what nots of interest rates but to observe them with a cold clinician's eye and to move only when the trend or the event is obvious.

Or as my neighbor, James Carville, would say: "It's the real rates, stupid!" That phrase need to be tattooed on every gold holder's hand in red ink so that he is reminded every day, many times a day.

If one holds gold and, if astute [assumed] has held it on a LTBH basis for years upon years, not trading, not wiggling hither and fro, then one can afford to wait for trends to become manifest before moving. The opportunity costs should be minimal and the possibility of error minimized.

IMO best to look for what is rather than prove sagacity by predicting what should be.

I hope I can take my own advice.
