Hi Haim,

Do you believe in the concept of peak oil?

oilvoice.com

There is no current technology for recovering the gigatonnes of methane hydrates out there. There is standard technology for recovering oil, but we sometimes even screw that up. Safe recovery of carbon energy from Hydrates is highly questionable.

Is it possible that the climate of the Earth is effected by burning of hydrocarbons?

My view is the guy in the link above is in deep denial. So deep in denial he doesn't even realise he is using statistics to blind himself to the truth rather then use them as a source of illumination.

Example...

An increase of 1% in the aforementioned global recovery factor would yield almost 90 billion barrels, equivalent to roughly 3 years consumption at current rates.

Oh wow. As if that is a big deal. Not only that, but if plenty of hydrocarbons are available, per capita consumption will go up. Lots of room for that to happen if you consider the whole planets population, not just the USA.

According to my knowledge of numbers and logic...

The UK is past it's peak in the North Sea.
The USA is past it's peak.
etc.

i.e we are past the oil consumption peak and the party is over. I have not read the book yet but plan to.
