All:

recently there was discussion about this problem with GE fiber cabling that greatly reduced it's effective distance spec. Everyone seemed extremely happy about this.

But I don't understand why nobody mentioned this: If GE's physical layer implementation is essentially fiber channel, doesn't this cabling problem affect FC the same way???

Could somebody please explain what I'm missing here that was so obvious to everyone else?
