There’s no evidence that it’s being transmitted beyond your device and any machines you sync it with.

Besides the fact that this in and of itself is outrageous, it is really pretty plain stupid to assume that because Apple hasn't admitted to it yet, its not taking place. Apple never notified their iPhone/iPad users that their ever-updated time-stamped Geotracking information was being permanently logged to a SQL database.

Did you know that the highest courts in New York, Oregon and Washington have ruled that warrants are required when law officers want to track someone with GPS technology?

Apple is gonna be in deep shiite over this one with a lot of governments and groups. Lawsuits to follow. Fines and remedies to follow. This is the height of arrogance.

OT: Al Franken is da man. I am proud that I donated to his election and to the recount effort. I hope he rips Apple a new one.

Here is a very nice note he sent me this very morning:

Dear [zax's real name],

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by this stuff anymore, but I was still shocked when I heard that House Republicans had decided to abolish Medicare.

Democrats created Medicare -- which has helped to keep millions of American seniors healthy and out of poverty. Now it’s up to us to save it. And that’s a challenge I’m proud to take on. But I need your help.

I used to point out how ironic it was that conservatives would demand that the government "keep its hands off Medicare." But it's not really funny anymore. Because Republicans want to put their hands on Medicare, and then carry it over to the shredder and run it through, leaving seniors to deal with the insurance market on their own.
President Obama was right when he said that “we do not have to sacrifice the America we believe in” to deal with the deficit. And I know that, as Democrats, we believe in an America where seniors can rely on affordable health care when they retire. That’s a promise worth making.

So how do we keep it? We organize. We make it so that being in favor of getting rid of Medicare is as politically unpalatable as, well, being in favor of getting rid of Social Security (but that's another email). And we stand together to build our grassroots organization as strong as it can be.
Help me fight back -- click here to make a contribution of $5 or more today!

It took a long, hard fight -- and a big Democratic majority -- to create Medicare. We don’t have big majorities today -- but we’d better have the same kind of fight left in us. I know I do. And I hope you do, too. Because it’s up to us to save Medicare.

Thanks for standing with me,

Al
