Justa,

Re #3: Yes, I plan to hold at least through 300mm conversion and probably through 0.15um.

1. I don't have the psychological makeup to buy back in above my exit price.

2. Taxes are prohibitive. It's one of the benefits a Canadian receives. e.g. - To get back into KLAC, I need about $33 or better to be able to buy the same # of shares I sold near $45 with my aftertax proceeds.

3. I don't believe I have the ability to predict the direction or timing of short term market moves. The key advantage I have over fund managers is time. I can buy the leaders cheap then hold indefinitely as I don't have to file a quarterly report showing my results. (which is good this month.) Unlike Ira, I hope to be able to profit from this one advantage.

If my view of the Equipment sector's prospects were to change; or if the competitive picture for 1 of my holdings were to change markedly, then I'd sell much earlier.

Have a good weekend,
Ian.

P.S. I don't think you said anything in your original post to provoke item #3. I was on a roll. ;-)
