Whether you make light of it or not, this is a very serious situation that will have serious repercussions. Fortunately for me, my phone doesn't maintain a history of my location with date and time stamps. Why do you think Apple has been dragging their feet on answering questions about this? Google and Microsoft answered questions immediately about what and how data is retained. Is Apple hiding something embarrassing, that could have some serious legal implications against them?
