I noticed at the ferry terminal in Sidney, BC, that a sign said to park within 24 inches of the car in front of you. I saw a couple other common uses of English measurements. President Carter tried to get us to switch, dual signs went up, but American arrogance won the day. We just cannot live in a world with a two dollar bill, a one dollar coin, or a meter stick under a bank thermometer that says 27 degrees when it's hot out.
