As of today, nationally, the NDP are at 28%, the Conservatives have dropped to 34% and the Liberals have dropped to 24%. Assuming these results hold and the Conservatives and Liberals do not drop further in the polls, the Conservatives are headed for a weakened minority at best and will need the backing of the Liberal Party to form a minority gov't. Otherwise, it will be Prime minister Jack Layton's minority NDP gov't supported by the Bloc and the Liberals. Social media advocating a youth vote for 18-24 year olds, has gone viral, resulting in a huge youth voter turnout with most of them voting NDP. The youth are idealistic, under employed and have nothing to lose. Sadly, they don't have a memory of the economic damage recent provincial NDP gov'ts caused. I don't see how an NDP gov't can maintain confidence in the Canadian dollar, economy and exchange listed stocks.
