Tiger,

Yes, I forgot ADLAC with its Hyperion subsidiary. It was one of my best performing stocks this year, giving me a whopping 131% return in 4 months of ownership until I booted it with almost all of my other stocks late October. I must admit I bought ADLAC because it was fiber rich and had aggressively rolled out cable modem service and was cheap. I figured they would eventually get bought out by a much bigger player. I hardly thought about Hyperion, although I noticed it was being managed by one of the Rigas boys, who appeared well qualified to manage it. I was unaware of any attempt to spin Hyperion out. When was that?

I would love to hear your thoughts on the CLECs. Which ones do you own? Why? How would you summarize the basic investment thesis for owning the CLECs?

I am most interested in companies like RCNC that have innovatively partnered with utilities like Boston Edison and PEPCO to aggressively increase the value of fiber that was already there, bundle service, and share rights of way to deploy new fiber. I am also looking for the Ugly Duckling electric utility transformation into a Telecom Swan, if such Fairy Tales are possible in this Age of "Deregulation". <VBG>
