At Walmart, as long as the Top Ramen is selling well today, who cares about planning for tomorrow?

You need to break out of that mindset if you ever want to learn about this business. Companies forecast years out into the future. AMD could see that if they wanted to keep pace with Intel the capex trend would kill them. They couldn't keep building fabs and using a poor yielding boutique process, yet they were prohibited from any alternative. They saw it long before a pedestrian observer would ever suspect it and you keep identifying yourself with every post.

Parts is parts.

You need to break out of that mindset if you ever want to learn about this business. Companies forecast years out into the future. Intel could see that if they wanted to keep pace with market share the K7 & Opteron trend would kill them. They kept building P4s and using threats and bribes, they prohibited Mickey from any alternative. They saw it long before a pedestrian observer would ever suspect it and you keep identifying yourself with every post.

Parts *are not* parts and Mickey has the 6 billion to prove it.
