RLM,
I am afraid your head is in the silicon.
I am in the technical marketplace everyday and I can tell you for absolutely sure that NT is being implemented in very critical environments from the desktop to the server in very many very large private and public enterprises. Is it the smart thing, technically to do? Maybe not, but the applications for NT are driving this, as is the ability to hire qualified NT engineers versus more scarce UNIX gurus.

So far, IMHO, it is Novell, Banyan, et al, who have been most severely impacted (slain) by this NT storm. But it is significant that the folks chose NT as their upgrade rather than UNIX. (A missed opportunity for SUNW?) That has built a momemtum that must be reckoned with, I believe.
