Yep. We were both hoping to preserve minority government, with everyone being held accountable.

Re: taxes, that 1% decrease in GST was noted because nobody saw 1% price declines. Instead, business just soaked up increased profit. Meanwhile, the debt and deficits began climbing again because gov't revenues decreased. To be fair, part of that was stimulus when global economies crashed. Still, many argued that the GST had been cut too soon, for no gain to consumers or taxpayers.

So, after years of steady (and painful) debt reduction with prudent budgets we have even more debt to pay off. Who won?
