You got me thinking --

My laptop has a huge disk, 500G. (Huge for me!) And I don't come anywhere near filling it.

I could create a second primary partition and restore my images to it. Then I could mark it as ACTIVE, and re-boot. If it works, I'd be certain my image is OK.

There's a catch. Although this would work with XP, with Windows 7, I'd need to update the Boot Configuration Database.
