Interesting thought, to change which partition is "active." I don't know how it is in Windows 7 but in XP I believe one would need to edit the boot.ini file. Here is mine:

[Boot Loader]
Timeout=10
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT

[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="XXCLONE: (Cloned Volume) [d:0,p:1] \WINNT" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

You can see that it states the machine should boot from the first partition on the hard drive. This file would need to be edited to tell XP that it should boot from partition 2, but how to edit this file before the operating system is loaded?

Don't be dismayed at other stuff in my file as I routinely use XXCLONE to clone my C: partition to the 2nd hard drive mounted in the case to which I can switch with a simple trip to the BIOS configuration utility.
