Do you have Norton's? Some are saying that's the problem. Did you download the Intel Viiv application like this post suggests:

I also suffered from this, I think after upgrading the Intel Viiv application, as per Dell's recommendation on the downloads page. I seem to have resolved it by repairing the install.

I went into Control Panel and Programs and Features. I selected the Intel Viiv software and then 'Change'. It seemed to install properly this time, and subsequently went into the Viiv setup routine, which it hadn't done the first time I installed it.

Now, no errors for the Intel Alert Service
