They try to develop products in house, set standards, get patents and when that fails they wait and buy the best available company to position themselves in the targeted market.IBM hasn't been that strong in storage for many moons,as hard as they push SSA. I'd imagine they will let the FC industry play out awhile longer to see what's available, where the standards are going and what companies are available. They'd rather pay a premium for an odds on winner then what they percieve as a long shot.
