There are conflicting stories in the press, each supposedly based on administration sources. One has four helicopters leaving Ghazi air base in Pakistan itself. Another has only two copters leaving Jalalabad in Afghanistan and evading Pakistan air defenses.

One version has one helicopter becoming disabled as it landed for an unknown reason. Another version has one being hit by fire from the roof of the compound as it landed.

Helicopters land every day without incidence. I presume the version with the helicopter being disabled from taking fire is more believable.
