Obfuscation is a Feature in all well designed Systemics.

The post copied herein is a good illustration of someones ability to spot it. We are not taking an opinion on this post in particular or not, but its clear this poster has bandwidth for uncovering system design features which have an impact on so many.

Hierarchal feeding programs are advantaged by Obfuscation, failing to understand the obligation to properly characterize Obfuscation is a failing that will always enable mouthpieces in thier applied roles as spokespersons for herding investors into one of the two lines waiting to receive you.

How to tax your ROTH?

Easy. A national sales tax or a VAT. If they couple one of those with decreasing the tax on your tax bracket after you retire, you will pay taxes twice. That is a big IF. Not the least of the problems is that those with ROTHs might figure that out.

So how successful do you intend to be? What will be your tax bracket when you retire? And what is your tax bracket now. Any year you have the misfortune to be in a lower bracket, you can max your bracket with a partial rollover.

I am a believer in doing a ROTH for your dependent child who has any income what so ever. Think about it. What if he used money in a ROTH for his or her last year in college? Do the math.

And don't forget that ROTH withdrawals are not included in your AGI. Lots of things depend on your AGI. State taxes is a big one. Are you going to move? Medicare premiums are based on your AGI. Homestead allowances. Most assistance or special programs.

But be creative. If you decide to do a ROTH conversion, don't do one ROTH. Do several separate ROTH accounts each year, then keep the one that does best and recharacterize the rest.

I don't know the answers, nor does anyone else. But if each of us is anywhere near as smart as we think that we are, then we should do our own D&D, add up the numbers for ourselves, and do what we think suits us best.

Your elected representatives and their staffs designed this system to be as complicated as possible to confuse you. They have been more successful at achieving this goal that even they dreamed.

Good luck.
