I didn't say our future was toast. What I said was

1) the slide is already underway and the only question(s) is how much further and for how long.

2) Things are past the point of being fixable in a way that returns the US to what you and I knew it to be as kids and young adults.

You and I will be worm poop well before this country has it's financial house in order. We're F***ed for many years to come. The days of fuzzy numbers & creative accounting are long gone - wont work. The US Govt (I.e. - the US people) are about to get a serious margin call
