Global Energy completes installation of Waste-Diesel pilot in Massachusetts (Ind. Report - G&C)
Covanta, Global Energy Date: 2010-06-08
Global Energy indicates it has completed construction of its first proprietary KDV 500 waste to renewable diesel unit in the U.S. on the grounds of Covanta Energy's SEMASS energy-from-waste facility in West Wareham, Massachusetts. Covanta installed the KDV 500 to verify the operability of the equipment and process as well as its commercial potential.
Once commissioning work is completed, Covanta plans to perform test runs on a variety of different waste feedstock over a six to twelve month period to determine whether it's commercially viable.
In the longer term, under previously signed agreements with Global Energy, Covanta plans to operate hundreds of facilities across the U.S. using Global Energy's KDV technology for converting municipal solid waste into biofuel.
