Liberty also has strong support in the human psyche. Strong enough to not make libertarianism, even a fairly strong form, "un-natural to the human pysche".

The problem is those who have political power (either as politicians, or to a lesser extent as leaders of political groups and coalitions) are not a random sample of the population. They usually come from those who seek political power. And those who seek political power tend to be those who want to control others.

The reason we've dominated every other species is that we cooperate.

And on the whole the most effective way of efficiently cooperating is the market, not political decision making.
