And on the whole the most effective way of efficiently cooperating is the market, not political decision making.
Yet at every opportunity, when humans gather in any type of community, they organize themselves in a government or quasi-government way. Geographically, in every corner of the globe where there is any population density at all. In businesses. I report to someone, a handful of people report to me, and a handful of people report to some of them. A voluntary giving of "liberty". In virtually every organization or association; the first thing they do is elect leaders. We have government at every level; world, federal, state, county, city, even community (condo and homeowner associations).
This is in our DNA, it's what we do as humans. We give up liberty for the greater good. As a libertarian you are fighting around the edges, at the margin of this basic and compelling human desire to govern and be governed.
You may not like it but you have to accept that that is the human condition. There is evidence in everything we do. |
