The Female Health Company's Brazilian Distributor, Semina, Awarded Contract For
Up To 20 Million FC2 Female Condoms
CHICAGO, May 6, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Female Health Company
(nasdaq-cm:FHCO) today announced that its exclusive distributor in Brazil, Semina
Industria e Comercio (Semina), was successful in a public tender to supply the
Brazilian Ministry of Health (MOH) with up to 20 million FC2 Female Condoms. The
contract is valid through March 29, 2012. The actual quantity purchased will be
determined at the Ministry of Health's discretion.
O.B. Parrish, Chairman and C.E.O. of The Female Health Company, noted that the
contract reflects Brazil's and the MOH's leadership in providing women with
options to control their health and in further enhancing the national HIV/AIDS
prevention program.
FHCO and Semina have agreed to install a local FC2 production facility in Brazil
if nationwide consumption continues to grow significantly, reaching an average of
20 million units annually.
Parrish reaffirmed the statement in the Company's February 4, 2011 earnings
release that it may experience significant quarter to quarter variations in
results due to the timing of substantial orders and that it expected modest
results for the first half of fiscal 2011 and strong results for the second half
of the fiscal year.
