We give up liberty for the greater good.
---
A small amount of liberty yes. But much of the liberty we give up results in the opposite of the greater good.

We give up a huge amount of liberty in almost everything we do. Our lives have rules for everything, everything we touch is regulated. We're robotic in obedience to rules. It's in our DNA.

Try driving a car with "liberty". Or practicing "liberty" at your job. You can't even grow what you want in your own front yard. We as a species organize and regulate ourselves to death. And we seem to love it, we crave it. Otherwise we wouldn't do it at every opportunity. We have layer upon layer upon layer of government and laws...

Being a libertarian is like trying to be a fish and live on dry land... we're just not hard wired for liberty. We are the ultimate socialist animal.

Good or bad? It is what it is.
