Based on information revealed by Pfizer, the media, investigators, and brokers' analysis reports, here are my responses to the Viagra questions. I hope this helps!

Good investing!

1. How long before an erection can be obtained after taking pill?

Viagra will be taken one hour before anticipated sexual activity. Onset of action has been 20-60 minutes.

2. Will the male lose the erection after orgasm?

Yes. Viagra works the same way as if the male did not have an ED problem. After an orgasm, the erection will not continue.

3. Is there a time limit for sustaining the erection, irregardless of
orgasm?

No. However, sexual stimulation is required. A single pill will last for at least 4 hours. Patients interviewed on televison have indicated that when sexually stimulated a single Viagra pill has lasted for at least 8 hours.

The VIVUS Board often mentions duration tests conducted in a single Viagra clincial study. In this test, patients were probably visually stimulated and the duration of the erection was measured by a Rigiscan equipment (not often conducive to maintaining an erection). The results from these tests are very favorable to the efficacy of Viagra. They indicate that Viagra (10 minutes) is significantly superior to placebo (1 minute). I believe most males who do not have ED probably would have a similar 10 minute duration in a Rigiscan test.

4. How long does the chemical stay in the body?

Don't know. No information is available as yet. I assume at least 4 hours.

5. Can a male get more than one response with one pill?

Yes. As long as there is sexual stimulation within the 4 hour period.

6. Can Viagra be taken with alcohol?

Don't know. No information is available as yet.

7. Can a patient drive after taking Viagra?

Don't know. However, the most reported common side effects have been mild and transient made up of headaches, indigestion, and flushing. The 2% discontinuance rate due to side effects is similar to placebo.
