OT? Greenblatt on how to select the right index fund - One of the objections I personally had to indexing was the question how to select the right index fund. Ten-fifteen years ago you did not have a choice. Now you have too many choices. :) Greenblatt makes very good points on this decision: finance.yahoo.com He only partially covers big-cap-vs-small-cap issue and he does not cover US-vs-world index issue, but at least the first step is made. ;) If I had to suggest US based index fund to a friend or family member, I'd go with RSP or PRF. I am more sceptical on very-value-bent-indexes such as IWD, IWN, VTV. (I don't particularly like the Yahoo breakout crew, but Greenblatt is worth listening to. ;)).
