Yes, I read the same statement from Steve Tobak.

However, Intel has been quite careful - they have identified key aspects of the Slot 1 interface as "Trade Secrets" and have not patented them.

That takes these "features" off the table from a cross licensing standpoint and gives Intel complete control over their use and implementation.

I believe they can fully enforce their unique rights to their own Trade Secrets - independent of patent law.
