American fugitive arrested in Boracay

AN American national wanted in Brazil three years ago was arrested by authorities the other day in Boracay Island.
The suspect was identified as William Freston Strong, 56, with passport number 7124241265.
He was arrested by joint elements of International Police (Interpol), Intel Division, Bureau of Immigration based in Manila, Boracay Special Tourist Police Office (BSTPO) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) on May 5 at Alargo Park Balinghai, Bgy. Yapak, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan
Initial investigation revealed that Strong was arrested based on the arrest issued by Segundo Tribunal Federal in Sao Paulo, Brazil, dated February 9, 2008.
He was allegedly involved in the crime of conspiracy, fraud and setting up a gang.
Strong is now under the custody of Interpol and BI for proper disposition and will be turned-over to the court. Zaida delos Reyes-Palanca |
