Paul Engel. Re: Why Apple got "toasted". My opinion is that Apple's mistake was going for margin and not market share. If they had made market share their objective, they would have seen the benefit of licensing the OS. The reason they went for margin was arrogance IMHO, 'cause they didn't think anyone would catch them.

If Apple had been the platform of choice, Mr. Jobs would now be really wealthy and arrogant and Bill Gates would be just rich and ruthless, but wouldn't have Janet Reno bugging him.

Apple's arrogance was no match for Andy's paranoia and Bill's ruthlessness.
