All laptops allows you to hookup an external monitor.. That is why you will see a VGA outlet on the laptop.. That is what I have right now and that is also one way you can still use your laptop when the laptop screen goes bad but the laptop is still fully functional.. p.s. if you have a newer model with HDMI, then you have more choice..
