Very nice! I never saw that.
I want to tell you that I want to be sure you don't think I "judge" you because of the music. I love music too, just more and more the only thing I want to hear is from Ireland or Scotland--pipes, especially, and of course blue grass, which is Ireland and Scotland here a few centuries. Believe me Steve, I know rock and roll. Acid rock, hard rock and turned up as high as the ears can take it. Just not in the house of God, not now, not ever. So that's all, it's just pure preference on my part, and yet I see many people who prefer the House of God with rock praise rather than without it. I am completely out of that dispute and believe that anything that works anymore to get these peoples' attention is o.k. with me.
The truth? I think I'm going to stay with the Episcopal ritual and forget it. Love the Episcopal liturgy, and find the quiet of it all seems to be where it's at for me right now.
Would I suggest all people go to Episcopal church? Couldn't, because it is just too dull for a lot of them, and would not work. They'd be gone after a week or two, and probably to a church where there is a rock band praise team. I just say whatever it takes anymore, and it seems quite time to do something, doesn't it?
It must have been strange for you to hear a long dissertation on the evils of music when God has called you to a music ministry.
For that I apologize. I feel the same sharing history of those who have ever truly found Jesus Christ and followed Him because it reflects badly on the you know what. That I've gone through for years with Patricia, who is one of the most on fire, do it, Christians I have ever known. And as catholic as they get. Once I sought her prayers over a long trip in a loaded truck and told her pray to Mary if she had to, but just pray over my truck. She just laughed and prayed, of course, in the name of Jesus Christ. Because I knew her prayers were usually quite successful. So, go figure. We just had to drop the Mary issue, and it almost cost us our fellowship. She loves Jesus and He is the center of her life, her family, and the whole thing.
I do believe that we should all be on the look-out for wordliness creeping in anywhere, because things come with it that often cause a lot of damage to our lives before we can pull out of the tailspin. |
