I own Wcom. You own GTE. That says it all.

Then why are you reading the GTE thread? You must have some interest in the company. I own GTE because it's a company with low risk. For the low risk portion of my portfolio it makes far more sense than WCOM. I trust Lee to continue running GTE in a fiscally sound manner while Bernie has a penchant for debt leveraged empire building.

If the deal between MCI and WCOM is so great why did BT run? I submit that they ran because they can't work with Bernie.

If Lee's only reason for making the MCI offer was to force WCOM into further debt then it was a smart move on his part. GTE has access to more of the QWST fiber than WCOM. They don't need MCI except to garner more LD market. But everyone knows that future growth is not going to be in the LD market. It's a cash cow that Bernie needs badly but GTE can live without.
