Silvaco To Avant: Pay Up (11/14/97; 4:50 p.m. EST) By Semiconductor Business News Electronic design automation supplier Silvaco International here has claimed a legal victory against Avant! Corp. of Sunnyvale and its Meta-Software unit. Silvaco said a judge has order Avant! to pay it $31.4 million in damages, plus costs, resulting from four counterclaims against Meta-Software. Silvaco filed a counter suit against Meta-Software in 1995 after it was sued by the EDA company. Silvaco said all of Meta-Software's claims were dismissed by the trial judge over the course of the long legal battle. Silvaco charged Meta-Software and its officers with defamation, interference, unfair competition and breach of contract. techweb.com
