317,000 lightbulbs recalled after one sparks a house fire
May 10, 2011 12:38 PM

After one of its lightbulbs started a house fire, Telstar has recalled 317,000 lightbulbs sold under the Telstar and Electra brand names. One of the lightbulbs also caused a fire in a light fixture. The lightbulbs were sold in discount stores in New York and New Jersey for $1 and $1.50 from August through March.

Made in China by Telstar Products, the lightbulbs came in two configurations—spiral and 3-Us—and were sold in wattages ranging from 18 to 40. Check the recall notice for model numbers. Consumers should stop using the lightbulbs and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund. For more information, call Telstar Products at (888) 828-1680 or visit the firm's website at www.telstarpro.com.
