First of all, I live about twenty miles away from the company, and over the years I've seen it grow from a small business to something that employs 750 today in it's Westbrook facility. It now employs over
2000 worldwide. I like it's expansion in foreign markets, and I like the acquisions of Idetek and Acumedia, in addition to the veterinary
software acquired from Colgate-Palmolive. I feel this company is
establishing itself as a leader in the scientific testing industry.

I also feel there is alot of opportunity in the field of testing foods
for cleaniness. With all the media attention tainted meat has received, I won't be surprised if testing becomes mandatory.

Although it's stock was hammered this spring due to a poor earnings
report which resulted from poor inventory control, {which CEO David
Shaw assures has been corrected} and the recent fiasco with the settling of the court case regarding the Barnes-Jewish patent infringement suit, I feel the worst is over. This is a good company
going through growing pains due to it's rapid expansion. I am encouraged by the foward projections of .59/share for '98 and .85/share for '99.

Sorry about the length of this post, once I get started I find it hard
to shut up.

Regards, Steve
