The two big problems has always been scalability and cost. The numbers just get worse and worse while renewables will continue to get ever cheaper at increasing rates for over the next century or more.

Molten salt reactors in any fuel scheme are much, much more expensive to build than a water cooled reactor.

In the end it's about the numbers...

And it's totally against the nuclear industry unfortunately.

That's a conclusion I came to about 40 years ago while in college.
