My point is that's a big "if" at least in this culture. You come from a more noble culture. I still think your other point was the more important one. Joe Kennedy told Jack many decades ago <<It doesn't matter what you are, what matters is what people think you are.>> and, unfortunately, in US politics, and society in general as well, that notion seems to have gotten an increasing following as time goes on. The US, after all, invented the new wonderful phenomenon known as SPIN DOCTORS.
