Roger and All:

On the recommendation of a newsletter, I have been following Orthogensis (ORG)as a possible short. It's stock has been declining during the past few weeks (35+ to 28) but on Friday, it was up 2 1/2, apparently on the news (Business Wire) that the company's directors had declared a 25% stock dividend, i.e., investors get an additional share for every 4 shares they own. I have never come across this before and would appreciate some enlightenment. Questions:

(1) Why does a company do something like this?

(2) Assuming that the company's technology is suspect (the argument for the original short), what does this do --if anything--to ORG as a short candidate?

TIA

--Carl
