I do not want to sound negative on your post but you are making a lot of unsubstantiated statements, some of which contain the phrase " I don't know", hardly a basis for educated investing. If you would take the time to do a little basic research you would find that a comparison of the fundamentals of APM and RDRT over the past 5 years tells a definite story. Contrary to what you post, the future very often mirrors the past. Consistency in management and technology is what counts in investing.

As to your statement about R&D, normally others things being equal the companies putting a large percentage of their sales into R&D will grow faster and corner market technology advances. Good investors always look for technology stocks that invest a minimum of 7% of sales into R&D. See BAY- 10.5%, CS 11.5%, CSCO 11%, COMS 11% ETC. If you want to make money consistently than you have to do the research, anything less is guessing.

Good investing
