No matter how good something is, there is a best time to
market it. You cannot be arbitrarily late to market
a great product and still expect it to take the world by
storm.<

Kunal, I don't think we have to worry about Iomega being late to market. They started development in mid '96 and have worked with OEMs for almost a year and a half developing a product that meets the needs of varied products.

Iomega has signed up Citizen to help produce the Clik. Citizen is an excellent manufacturer of products like Clik (small watch like mechs). One of the great engineering stories in the last few years was the Kittyhawk drive (1" and 20MB) from HP. It was acclaimed as a great engineering success because it went from initial desing to volume manufacturing in about 6 months. Citizen did the manufacturing for HP.

Problem with Kittyhawk was HP didn't really line up customers for the product and those that they did failed. At the time PDA's such as the original Newton were the target. Kittyhawk flopped.

Iomega has lined up the customers in a variety of product areas for Clik. Iomega has done their desing homework and enlisted the aide of an excellent manufacturing partner in Citizen.

Right product, right design, right manufacturing and it will be right on time.
