The open short interest is from those that are short and haven't covered yet. Anyhow, if you'll look at the above figures, you'll find that COMS tended to increase in price as the short interest increased. Also, note that COMS price tended to decrease the months that short interest was small or declined. Unfortunately, I don't have the figures for this current month when this correction began.
