One more piece of information I just read off from Byte(Feb 96, p156): A: A test shows that a 166MHz PentiumPro with 512K L2 cache matches the speed of the 180 MHZ version with 256KB cache. (both caches built in) B: The 512KB/166 MHz 512KB/166 MHz PPro costs $1682. And the 256KB/180MHZ PPro costs $ 1075. (yes, 1682 vs. 1075) My digest : A: More cache boost the speed of PPro. The effect will be even larger at 200 MHZ range. B: Adding more cache on chip is not a cost effective way. Even with lower clock rate, the 512KB/166 MHz cost 600$ more than the 256KB/180MHZ one. C: Lets expect the PentiumPro without the on chip L2 cache to take place. Thanks. JL
