Beats me...that's what my connection shows on my "local area connection - speed 100.0 Mbps - status connected." Maybe that's inaccurate, but that's what I get when I open my connection status. I do have a gigabit ethernet connection, and also gigabit router, which could account for the boost. I haven't really done any online download or upload testing to verify recently, but I can tell you that my internet surfing is lightning fast. About as fast as off line computer use.

Where did you obtain the 40 Mbps max number. Qwest even offers faster speeds at higher prices for which I don't see any need right now. I think DSL speeds depend on location, distance and proximity.
